macOS High Sierra is a great update and brings lots of new and much needed improvements but that doesn’t mean that some of the changes can’t be annoying.
For example, just like in macOS Sierra, one of the changes that Gatekeeper comes with is that there’s no immediate way to allow unsigned apps to open.

Mac App Store: Click a Button to Install an App. We’re all used to app stores on our phones, but on the desktop they remain an oddity. Still, the Mac App Store is a decent first place to check. Open the store, search for the app you want, and click “Get” then “Download.”.
Up until now, Gatekeeper also allowed you to open apps downloaded from “Anywhere” but that’s no longer the case. Of course you can still open unsigned apps, but it’s a pain in the ass.

Ok, nothing new here. This was present in previous OS X version too. However, in previous versions you always had the option to set OS X and allow unsigned apps from “Anywhere”.
In macOS High Sierra that option is missing and, you will always have to go to System Preferences>Security & Privacy> and click on a new button that says “Open Anyway”.

Luckily there’s an easy fix for this: 1. Open up Terminal, type “sudo spctl –master-disable”( no quotes ), and hit enter ( NOTE: you might not be able to copy – paste the command in the terminal. See the screenshot below to make sure you enter it correctly )
Now you can go to Preferences>Security & Privacy and choose “Anywhere”
NOTE: if you want, for some reason, to go back to the way macOS High Sierra wants it all you have to do is repeat all the steps above but instead of “disable” change it to “enable”. ( i.e. “sudo spctl –master-enable” )
Accessing Apps Anywhere via MacOS
Open up a browser (Safari, Chrome, or Firefox) and enter apps.salemstate.edu in the address bar. You will be prompted to enter your credentials and once authenticated you'll be presented with your apps, desktops, and favorites.
Your applications and desktops will open up within the browser session. The browser can be expanded to full screen. Mac remove shortcut icons of deleted apps.
Advanced Setup
Although not required, it may be beneficial to download and install the Citrix Receiver for Mac application for some use cases.
Download
Navigate to https://www.citrix.com/go/receiver.html to download the Citrix Receiver.
This site should automatically detect that you're using a MacOS operating system and provide you with a link to download the Citrix Receiver for MacOS.
Install
The Citrix Receiver will download to your default download location. It's approximately 50MB in size.
Once the Citrix Receiver has downloaded, find and double click the CitrixReceiverWeb.dmg file to open it.
You will be presented with two icons. Double click 'Install Citrix Receiver' to begin the installation process.
Click Continue.
Click Continue.
Click Continue and then click Accept to agree to the terms of the software license.
Click Install to select the default install location.
Administrator credentials are required to install the software.
Do not check 'Add Account' and click Continue.
